The “The Silver Sword” is a novel written by Ian Serraillier, the book is about three children, Edek, Ruth and Bronia, whose parents get taken from them by the Germans, they go on a journey through Europe to find their parents and meet new people along the way. A significant change that happened to a character in The Silver Sword was Ruth changing from a child that couldn’t look after herself to someone that had to care for other children. This change was important because the children were relying on her to care for them, she had a purpose, a plan and a goal to get to Switzerland and eventually leading Edek, Jan and Bronia to their parents.
